Job Description
I’m currently looking to bring on an in-house Fiber Splicer here in Atlanta. This is a full-time role I’m not looking for contractors or subs at this time.
We’ve got a mix of work across multiple clients (Comcast, Zayo, Lumen, Lumos, Greystone, and Connexon), so this isn’t a one-note position. You’ll be doing a little bit of everything, and I need someone who’s comfortable working in different environments and getting the job done right.
You should be experienced in:
• Ribbon splicing (up to 864ct)
• Ribbonizing loose tube
• Single splicing
• Muxing
• FTTH / FTTN
• Dark fiber paths
• Business installs
• Outages and troubleshooting
• Running a bucket truck
• Reading OTDR
• Reading prints
• Navigating hubs
Pay:
This is hourly pay ranging from $25-40/hr
I come from in-house experience with AT&T and Verizon, so I have quality standards deeply ingrained. I also understand the ins and outs of the work, as well as what it’s like to be micromanaged. That said, work can either be a paid hang out, or feel like you’re running in place.
I know exactly how long each aspect of splicing takes in the field, which is why I use a production-based pay structure rather than hourly. In my experience, hourly setups often lead to wasted production and efficiency.
If you’re willing to work hard, earn your pay, and go home satisfied each day, this is the job for you. If you’re looking for the money without putting in the effort, this position will be frustrating for you.
