Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent / A valid driver's license / 3-5 years of experience in Outside Plant Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing and Testing or equivalent training and experience / Basic knowledge in fiber cable technologies, structure and experience / Strong attention to detail.
Other Requirements
Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office / DOT Medical Card / OSHA 10
Job Description
A Splicing Technician creates new splices and maintains/repairs fiber networks according to the direction of the department manager and the needs of the client. He/she is also responsible for terminating and testing aerial and underground fiber optic cables. Splicing Technicians prep cables into splice cases and complete connections by connecting individual fibers within the cable. Splicers also rearrange fibers when optical cable lines are changed. Splicing technicians are also responsible for troubleshooting and determining any loss of signal or continuity between termination points. Assist with troubleshooting. Ability to work with NOC on a bridge call.
