Job Description
The OSP Quality Control Technician inspects telecom construction projects to ensure work matches design plans and meets quality standards. This includes checking aerial and underground fiber installations, splice cases, cabinets, bonding/grounding, trenches, and bores.
Responsibilities:
• Inspect fiber construction work for quality and accuracy
• Compare completed work to design plans and document changes (redlines)
• Perform site surveys before construction begins
• Take photos/videos to document completed work
• Ensure property restoration meets standards
• Report issues and create work orders for corrections
• Communicate progress with project managers
• Maintain records and follow safety procedures
• Attend planning meetings with staff and contractors
• Follow company policies and regulations
• Work weekends or alternate shifts if needed
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of telecom OSP construction, maintenance, or repair experience
• 1+ year of maintenance technician or similar experience
• Knowledge of aerial and underground telecom construction
• Ability to read maps, plans, and blueprints
• Comfortable working outdoors and climbing ladders
• Able to carry tools and ladders (up to ~50 lbs)
• Ability to document work with photos and video
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Must participate in federally required drug and alcohol testing
Preferred: Construction experience and industry certifications (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E).
