Qualifications
Splicing of loose tube SM fiber. No Ribbon. Excellent knowledge with OTDR, OLTS, CD/PMD (preferably Exfo) Must have knowledge of various splice enclosures as well as patch panels.
Other Requirements
Must have a Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Job Description
Fiber Tech II or III
All work areas are in north Texas.
No Overnight Travel
Normal work schedule Monday- Friday 8-5
This is for a level II or III
Run the following Fiber Characterization tests
Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (OTDR).
Optical Return and Power Loss (using OLTS).
Identify out-of-spec splice points and jumpers.
Work with customer should they want them fixed and re-spliced.
Clean fibers to ensure they are clean.
Fiber splicing
Loose Tube.
Both ISP and OSP.
Run fiber jumpers between panels.
Keep accurate detailed notes.
Document Fiber Panels.
Meet or exceed customer and internal documented acceptable levels of quality.
Work with supervisor for scheduling and updates.
Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
Complete daily production reports, keep track of work hours.
Frequently work independently.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Must have knowledge of various splice enclosers as well as patch panels.
Ability to operate a bucket truck a plus
Ability to read splicing matrix and design/construction drawings
Ability to prep and splice fiber
Ability to splice large count fibers via tube
Perform mid-sheath live network splicing
Ability to troubleshoot and repair outages on a live network
Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier.
Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to 288 count, as well as perform ring cut when needed
Perform power meter testing
Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record, meeting the company policy conditions.
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat, and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.
