Job Description
We are seeking experienced Fiber Splicing Technicians to support a large-scale citywide telecommunications buildout. This is not an FTTH project. All project materials and consumables will be provided.
A crew configuration of 1 Lead Splicer & 1 Technician is considered an ideal fit.
Required Equipment
Candidates must supply their own:
• Fiber tools and fusion splicing machines
• OTDR units (EXFO FTB-1 or FTB-2 preferred)
• Truck, trailer, or mobile splice lab
• Traffic control equipment (signage, reflective cones; arrow board strongly preferred)
Technical Requirements
• Proficient in ring cuts and butt splicing with high-count fiber cables (288 / 432 / 864 count)
• Potential ribbonizing work (TBD based on project needs)
Experience required with:
• AFL Apex 3 splice cases or CommScope 600
• Corning splice cassettes
Must be able to provide supporting work photos demonstrating experience and be open to onsite training if required.
OTDR / Testing Requirements
• Strong experience with EXFO FTB-1 / FTB-2 OTDR and OLTS units
• Calibration certificates required (within 1 year) at 1310 nm and 1550 nm
Complete understanding of:
• Fiber reflections
• Launch and receive fiber requirements
• Accurate test profile setup
• Bi-directional loss (Bi/Di) and MFD troubleshooting
Documentation & Tradecraft Verification
• Project photos and professional references are required as part of the qualification process
• Proper documentation of splicing and testing results is mandatory
Communication & Reporting Requirements
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications is required
• All project communication will be conducted via Microsoft Teams
• Daily reporting and coordination will be managed through digital platforms
Technicians will be led by Area Project Managers and a Fiber Optic Engineer who will oversee technical compliance and project standards.

• Training on project-specific procedures will be provided
