Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our network deployment and maintenance team. The Fiber Splicer will be responsible for splicing, testing, installing, and troubleshooting fiber-optic cables in aerial, underground, and indoor environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and fiber network documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber
-Read and interpret fiber design drawings, splice diagrams, and schematics
-Install, splice, and terminate fiber in closures, cabinets, panels, and enclosures
-Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing
-Troubleshoot fiber faults, signal loss, and continuity issues
-Maintain accurate as-built documentation and splice records
-Handle fiber cable preparation including buffer tube access, fiber stripping, and cleaving
-Work on aerial, underground, and indoor fiber networks
-Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality guidelines
-Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams
-Maintain tools, splicing equipment, and testing instruments
Required Skills & Qualifications:
-Proven experience as a Fiber Splicer or Fiber Technician
-Strong knowledge of fiber-optic networks and splicing techniques
-Hands-on experience with fusion splicers and OTDR equipment
-Ability to work with single-mode and multi-mode fiber
-Familiarity with OSP and ISP fiber installations
-Ability to work independently and in team environments
-Willingness to work in outdoor conditions and confined spaces
-Valid driver’s license (if field-based role)
Preferred Qualifications:
-Fiber Optic Certifications (ETA, FOA, BICSI, or equivalent)
-Experience with FTTH, FTTx, or data center fiber networks
-Knowledge of aerial lashing and underground duct systems
-OSHA or safety training certifications
Physical Requirements:
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
-Comfortable working at heights, in manholes, and outdoor environments
-Willingness to travel to project sites as required
