Job Description
This project consists of a comprehensive underground fiber-installation buildout across multiple regions of South Texas and the Hill Country. The scope is nearly 100% horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and underground conduit placement, with minimal to no open-cut work expected. The construction plan follows established underground standards and relies on contractors experienced in performing HDD and conduit installation across the typical soil types found in this region.
The work will rely heavily on the tasks outlined in the job descriptions provided, including:
HDD Bury: Installation of innerduct or conduit of various sizes using HDD methods appropriate for local soil conditions.
Additional Conduit Placement: Placement of supplementary ducts in the same bore path, including pull tape or rope installation.
Place Item in Duct: Pulling fiber or placing rope/pull tape inside newly installed conduit runs.
Handhole and Structure Installation: Setting composite handholes, access points, and supporting structures in coordination with underground routes.
The project will involve coordinated trenchless operations, bore-path planning, material staging, and efficient sequencing of duct placement and pull operations.
Contractors should provide HDD crews that are experienced in working within the various soil conditions typical to South Texas and the Hill Country, ensuring proper drilling practices, tooling/bore rig selection, and installation quality.
This project will prioritize contractors capable of delivering high-quality underground construction with strong operational control, safety performance, and familiarity with regional underground installation standards.
