Job Title: Remote Aerial Fiber Construction QC Inspector (Frontier Projects / NESC Compliance)
Location: 100% Remote (USA-based)
Job Type: Full-Time or Contract (1099)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Aerial Construction Quality Control (QC) Inspector specializing in Frontier Communications fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and fiber backbone projects. This is a fully remote role focused on post-construction audits, NESC compliance verification, and quality assurance of field documentation. You will review submitted photos, as-built records, and construction data to ensure all work meets Frontier engineering standards, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) requirements, local ordinances, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed remote quality control audits on completed aerial fiber construction jobs submitted by field crews and contractors.
Thoroughly review high-resolution construction photos, 360° imagery, close-outs, and red-lined as-builts for accuracy and completeness.
Identify, document, and classify NESC violations including but not limited to:
Mid-span, road, railroad, and powerline clearance violations
Improper guying, anchoring, or lashing
Pole loading issues, make-ready deficiencies
Improper tagging, bonding, or grounding
Overlashing and attachment violations
Verify compliance with Frontier-specific standards, GOPs (General Operating Procedures), and project-specific requirements.
Ensure all required photos are present, in focus, properly oriented, and clearly show the work performed (e.g., before/after, close-ups of attachments, clearances measured with laser or pole stick, etc.).
Flag missing, incorrect, or fraudulent documentation and escalate accordingly.
Complete detailed QC reports and correction notices in the company’s workflow platform (training provided).
Communicate clear, professional rework instructions to field supervisors and contractors.
Meet daily/weekly QC volume and turnaround time requirements (typically 40–80 jobs per day depending on complexity).
Required Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on aerial telecommunications construction experience (fiber optic preferred) with a strong understanding of outside plant (OSP) aerial builds.
In-depth working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) – especially Sections 23, 24, and 25 (clearances, strength/loading, grounding).
Previous experience performing physical or remote QC/audits for a major ISP, MSO, or telecom contractor (Frontier, AT&T, Lumen, Charter, etc.).
Ability to interpret pole loading data (O-Calc, SpidaCalc), make-ready summaries, and engineering prints.
Strong attention to detail and consistency – you can spot a 6-inch clearance violation in a photo from 50 feet away.
Proficient with computers; comfortable working in multiple web-based platforms daily.
Excellent written communication skills (professional emails and correction notices are part of the job).
Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, dedicated workspace.
Preferred (but not required)
Frontier-specific construction or QC experience
Formal NESC training or certification
Experience with Frontier’s close-out systems (BidMaster, ARAMIS, Sitetracker, Katapult, etc.)
Previous remote QC / virtual inspection role
Compensation
Competitive per-job or hourly rate based on experience and speed (top performers typically earn $22–$40/hour equivalent).
Paid weekly.
Long-term, steady workflow.
