Job Title: Line Tech I - Aerial
Status: Hourly / Non-Exempt
Reports To: Foreman
Direct Reports: None
Work Location: Outdoor Utilities Construction Sites

Job Summary
The Line Tech I works as part of a crew to safely install, replace, and maintain aerial utilities, including coaxial and fiber optic communication lines. This position involves climbing poles, operating aerial equipment, assisting with daily equipment inspections, and ensuring worksite safety and cleanliness.

Essential Job Functions
• Climb poles and ladders and operate bucket trucks under supervision to install coaxial and fiber optic lines.
• Assist with daily inspections, maintenance, and stocking of trucks, tools, and equipment.
• Follow instructions from the Foreman and perform assigned tasks efficiently.
• Maintain worksite cleanliness and ensure safe conditions for pedestrians and vehicles.
• Safely operate company vehicles when needed.
• Secure and return tools to their designated locations; help replace any missing or damaged equipment.
• Report all equipment loss, damage, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Participate in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and industry knowledge.
• Maintain knowledge of industry practices and proper tool/equipment use.
• Clean and maintain tools, vehicles, and storage areas.
• Protect other utilities and property from damage during work.
• Report unauthorized cable use to the supervisor.
• Use and maintain all safety equipment in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
• Participate in monthly inspections and other assigned tasks.

Job Requirements
Required:
• Valid Chaffeur’s License
• Clean driving record
• Current DOT Medical Card
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous heavy equipment operation experience
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety and operational procedures
• Basic understanding of utility operations or willingness to learn
• Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram instructions
• Commitment to professional conduct, integrity, and respectful interactions
Preferred:
• Previous aerial utility construction experience
• Valid Class A CDL

Physical Demands
• Physical strength, balance, coordination, and stamina to complete tasks
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs and push/pull loads up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day
• Physical ability to operate vehicles and machinery

Work Environment
• Primarily outdoors in active utility construction sites, subject to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind
• Exposure to loud noises, moving vehicles, and heavy machinery
• Work performed at heights, in and around bucket trucks, and on utility poles
• May require travel between job sites and overnight stays depending on project location
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and fall protection gear
