Job Description
About the Role:
We are looking for an RF Leakage & Field Test Engineer to lead detection, measurement, and mitigation of RF signal leakage across broadband, CATV, and wireless distribution networks.
This role bridges RF engineering and field operations, combining hands-on testing with analytical troubleshooting to ensure signal integrity, regulatory compliance, and superior customer experience.
You’ll work with a cross-functional team of RF engineers, field technicians, and compliance teams, applying your wireless field experience and instrumentation expertise to optimize network performance.
Key Responsibilities:
RF Leakage Detection & Measurement:
- Perform network-wide RF leakage tests using advanced detection systems (Trilithic / VIAVI Seeker / Searcher series, Spectrum Analyzers).
- Conduct drive testing and site-based measurements to locate and quantify leakage points.
- Utilize GPS mapping and tagging tools for accurate localization and reporting.
Field Testing & Troubleshooting:
- Identify interference sources, analyze spectrum data, and recommend corrective actions.
- Validate network shielding, grounding, and isolation integrity to prevent ingress and egress.
- Collaborate with RF design and network engineering teams to resolve persistent signal leakage issues.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
- Maintain Cumulative Leakage Index (CLI) metrics within regulatory limits (FCC/DoT/ITU).
- Prepare detailed leakage reports, field summaries, and compliance documentation.
- Support internal and external audits and assist during FCC inspections.
Network Optimization & Collaboration:
- Partner with network and construction teams for system upgrades or new builds.
- Apply RF fundamentals to improve network quality, reduce interference, and enhance coverage performance.
Qualifications:
-Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering.
-Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, signal propagation, shielding, and EMC/EMI compliance.
-Hands-on experience with RF measurement instruments (spectrum analyzers, leakage detectors, field strength meters).
-Familiarity with CATV / Broadband DOCSIS / LTE / 5G systems and FCC CLI testing standards.
-Proficiency in field testing, data logging, and technical reporting.
-Ability to work independently in outdoor and field environments.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in RF field engineering, drive testing, or network optimization (cellular, cable, or broadcast).
- Exposure to Planet, TEMS, Nemo, XCAL, or similar RF analysis tools.
- RF/EMC Compliance Certification and/or Safety Training for Field Work.
Soft Skills:
- Analytical problem-solver with strong technical curiosity.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Team-oriented but capable of working independently in the field.
- Commitment to safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
