Job Description
We are seeking skilled Fiber Installation Technicians (1099 contractors) to perform new installs (90% of work), fiber fusion splicing, and customer setup/troubleshooting. Techs are expected to complete 2–4 jobs/day depending on skill level and job flow.
This is a high-demand market with consistent work. The average paycheck is $2,000+ weekly with no earning cap. Work is year-round and supported by local warehouses.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be able to climb and carry a 28 ft ladder
Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
Social Security Number + Work Authorization (if required)
Must pass drug test and background check before training
Tools required: Basic cable + fiber tools, PPE (˜$600 on Amazon)
Phone: iPhone or Android
Vehicle: White minivan/SUV/pickup/cargo van with professional roof racks
Vehicle rental available ($150/week) – fuel & oil change paid by tech
Fusion Splicer: Rent available for $30/week
Training & Onboarding
Experienced Fiber Techs: 2–3 days unpaid training, then start Level 1 work
Inexperienced Techs: ~2 weeks training ($1,000 training bonus paid upon completion)
Trainers: $500 per tech trained
Onboarding Timeline:
Contract signing
Drug test
Background check (3–5 days)
Pre-training (self-study)
Field training (~2 weeks)
Final exam (safety + field test)
Independent work starts immediately after
Compensation
1099 position – pay per job
Average: $2,000+/week (3–6 jobs/day depending on experience & season)
Weekly pay with a 3-week hold (first paycheck after 3 weeks, then paid weekly)
Chargebacks may apply for QC fails, damages, or non-compliance
We do offer a referral bonus: $500-$1,000.
