Qualifications
1+ years of experience operating HDD Rigs . Ability to set up, operate, and maintain HDD rigs, mud systems, and support equipment. Skilled in reading and interpreting bore plans, maps, and construction drawings. Knowledge of underground utility installation. Familiarity with drilling fluids, soil conditions, and proper mud mix. Ability to troubleshoot and make field adjustments during bore operations. Valid Drivers License
Other Requirements
1+ years of experience as a drill locator in HDD. Proficiency with utility locating equipment. Skilled in tracking pilot bores, depth, pitch, and alignment. Ability to log bore data and keep accurate records of drilling progress.
Job Description
Drillers-
Operate and maintain HDD rigs. Set up and complete pilot bores, reaming passes, and product pullbacks according to project specifications. Work closely with the Locator to ensure accurate bore paths and safe utility crossings. Read and interpret bore plans, maps, and construction drawings. Mix and manage drilling fluids. Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance. Assist with general labor and site preparation.
Locators-
Operate and monitor utility locating equipment to track drill head position, depth, and alignment
Communicate bore path adjustments to the Driller in real time
Read and interpret bore plans, maps, and utility prints to guide accurate drilling
Maintain detailed records of bore logs, depth, and drilling progress
Assist with utility potholing, daylighting, and safe exposure of existing facilities
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards
Support the crew with site prep, cleanup, and general labor as needed
Coordinate with supervisors and project managers to meet deadlines
