Job Title: Class A CDL Driver – OSP Broadband Industry
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: OSP Construction Supervisor / Project Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Class A CDL Driver to support our OSP broadband construction projects in Springfield, Missouri. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience driving within the OSP or telecommunications infrastructure industry. This role is essential in safely transporting heavy equipment, materials, and cable reels to various job sites, as well as supporting field crews with loading, unloading, and site logistics. The driver may also operate construction equipment when necessary and must adhere to DOT and company safety regulations at all times.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles including flatbeds, lowboys, and equipment trailers.
Haul and deliver construction materials such as conduit, fiber optic cable reels, and heavy equipment to job sites across the Springfield area and surrounding regions.
Load and unload trucks using cranes, forklifts, or manual labor, ensuring proper tie-down and load security.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers.
Assist in equipment mobilization and demobilization for OSP projects.
Maintain accurate daily driver logs and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
Work closely with OSP construction crews to coordinate delivery schedules and support field operations.
Comply with company safety policies and OSHA standards on all job sites.
Non-Essential Duties:
Operate construction equipment such as mini-excavators or skid steers (if qualified).
Assist with basic ground labor duties when not driving (e.g., pulling fiber, setting handholes).
Perform light mechanical troubleshooting or minor vehicle maintenance (as needed).
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
OSP construction environments and terminology.
DOT regulations and FMCSA compliance.
Safe loading/unloading practices for heavy and oversized loads.
Roadways, traffic laws, and logistical planning in rural and urban areas.
Skills in:
Defensive driving and hazard awareness.
Safe operation of Class A vehicles under various driving conditions.
Load securing, tarping, and rigging procedures.
Using GPS, mapping tools, and route planning software.
Abilities to:
Communicate effectively with crew leaders, dispatch, and project managers.
Follow verbal and written instructions clearly and consistently.
Work independently and manage time efficiently.
Adapt to changing job site conditions and schedules.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of driving experience in the OSP broadband or telecommunications construction industry.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with current medical card.
Clean driving record (no major violations within the last 3 years).
Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Make quick, sound decisions in high-traffic or dynamic environments.
Handle routine and emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
Work with minimal supervision under tight deadlines.

Climb onto trailers and vehicles to secure or inspect loads.
Bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Withstand exposure to outdoor elements in various weather conditions.
Work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as needed.
Working Conditions:
Majority of work performed outdoors and on active construction job sites.
Travel required within a regional area (typically within 100-150 miles of Springfield, MO).
Work schedule may vary depending on project demands and weather conditions.
