Qualifications

Highschool diploma, technicians must have a Truck, Van or SUV capable or transporting tools, equipment and a 28' ladder, must be able to lift up to 80lbs, comfortable working at heights greater than 25', knowledge of POTS, DSL, HDSL and bonding techniques, must be able to work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays, must pass background and drug test.

Position Summary:
The Copper Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of copper-based telecommunication services, including POTS, DSL, and other legacy or hybrid services. This role works both independently and as part of a team in residential, commercial, and outside plant environments to ensure high-quality and reliable service delivery.
 
What You'll Do:
Install and maintain copper-based services, including voice and data lines
Troubleshoot and repair copper cable faults in aerial, underground, and buried environments
Perform splicing, bonding, grounding, and testing of copper cables
Use test equipment (e.g., TDR, volt/ohm meter, transmission testers) to verify service quality
Interpret engineering prints, schematics, and service orders
Install NIDs, jacks, inside wiring, and related customer-premises equipment
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including test results and service documentation
Ensure work complies with industry standards, codes, and company policies
Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members
Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate PPE
Respond to service outages, escalations, or emergency repair needs as assigned 

What You'll Need:
Technician must have their own truck, van, or SUV with a ladder rack and 28’ fiberglass ladder with V-rung and mid-span hooks as well as all climbing equipment
High school diploma or equivalent
1–3 years of experience in telecommunications or copper cable systems preferred
Strong understanding of copper cable construction, troubleshooting, and repair practices
Ability to use various hand tools and telecommunications test equipment
Knowledge of POTS, DSL, HDSL, and bonding techniques
Familiarity with outside plant and inside plant environments
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Strong communication and customer service skills
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and on-call shifts as needed 

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry tools/equipment
Comfortable working on ladders, in manholes, and in confined spaces
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
