Pay

$60k to $72k Annual Salary is based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Work Environment: Work may be conducted in various locations, including outdoor sites, telecommunications closets, and data centers. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements: Must be a minimum of 21 years of age, must have a valid driver's license and provide a DMV report showing a clean driving record, must be able to pass a background check, and must provide a minimum of 3 years’ experience

Job Description

Fiber Optic Splicer Level 2 Job Summary: They must be knowledgeable in the latest fiber optic splicing techniques and technologies, and have excellent manual dexterity. Their duties include preparing fiber optic cables for splicing, using fiber optic tools and equipment to splice the cables, testing the cables for continuity and quality, and troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise. Additionally, they must be able to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are also essential.

Fiber Optic Splicer Duties: Assemble and install fiber optic cables, build cases, fiber enclosures and panels, test fiber optic cables for proper performance, splice fiber optic cables using fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques, troubleshoot and repair fiber optic cables, read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine installation requirements, calibrate and adjust equipment as needed and maintain records of work performed

Preferred Candidates: Ribbon Splicing Certification, Splicing Certified meeting or exceeding FOA Certification, Bucket truck certified, provide a DMV medical card
Fiber Optic Splicer Skills
• Experience in splicing and terminating single-mode and multimode fiber optic cables
• Experience with Ribbon fiber splicing
• Knowledge of fusion splicing and OTDR testing
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
• Ability to interpret and analyze test results
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, schematics, and diagrams
• Performs testing of light levels with EXFO or similar power meter
• Must be able to distinguish different color fiber jackets
• Troubleshoots back to and including ODN

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Understanding of fiber optic systems and components
• Proficiency in splicing and related operations
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures
• Able to work knights for cut over operations etc. if required
