Job Description
Job Title: Aerial Line Technician (Entry Level)
Status: Hourly/Non – Exempt
Reports To: Foreman
Direct Reports: None
Work Location: Outdoor Utility Construction Site (Varies)
Job Summary
Works with a team to safely install and/or replace coaxial or fiber optic communication lines
Essential Job Functions:
Climb poles and ladders and operate bucket trucks to install coaxial and fiber optic communication lines with supervision
Assist in the daily inspections of the line and/or bucket truck and equipment and stocking of all necessary equipment and/or supplies
Prepare equipment and execute all pre work trip inspections prior to mobilizing work on job site
Assist in securing work site and equipment at the end of each shift
Prepare various documents, reports, and/or checklists related to work, equipment and safety
Remain safety conscience at all times displaying awareness of pedestrian, co-worker and vehicular traffic through the work area
Ensure safety signs and orange cones are out safely securing the job site
Conducts JHA’s and help with pre and post job videos
Safely and efficiently operate company vehicle as needed
Assume responsibility for the tools and equipment personally used from the assigned truck and ensures their return at the end of each shift
Report lost or damaged equipment to immediate supervisor as soon as it is discovered
Check, maintain and use proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as issued in compliance with OSHA and company safety rules and regulations
Perform routine maintenance checks on all machinery and report any excessive wear or damage
Keep up to date with and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures
Identify and correct existing and/or potential safety violations
Ensure the security and cleanliness of trucks, tools, equipment, vehicles, storage and work areas
Remain up to date and knowledgeable with regard to industry best practices and procedures to maximize job performance
Perform other functions as assigned
Job Requirements:
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Chauffer's license required.
High School Diploma or equivalency
Must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and apply basic safety, operations, and industry procedure norms
Must have basic working knowledge of coaxial and fiber optic installation operations and overhead construction procedures including attachment requirements as specified by N.E.S.C.
Must demonstrate the ability to treat customers, clients, vendors, and co-workers with dignity and respect while acting at all times with integrity and honesty
Preferred:
Previous aerial line technician / utilities experience
Previous experience operating and working from bucket trucks
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical fitness and range of motion including, but not limited to, the ability to occasionally lift and carry loads up to 75 pounds
Must be able to proficiently climb trees, towers, ladders, utility poles and other structures and proficiently perform construction duties while working from heights
Must be able to tolerate work in extreme outdoor weather conditions including humidity, heat and cold
