Qualifications
This role is responsible for conducting field surveys to assess construction feasibility, collecting accurate site data, and helping to ensure successful fiber installations. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of utility infrastructure, fiber construction methods, and permitting requirements
Other Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and an associate's degree in a related field are a plus. 2+ years of experience in field surveying, utility construction, or fiber deployment. Familiarity with fiber construction methods (aerial, underground, directional boring). Proficient with GPS tools, measuring equipment, and mobile data collection apps. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, maps, and utility prints. Strong organizational and communication skills.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
Conduct site surveys for proposed fiber construction projects, including aerial and underground routes.
Document existing utility infrastructure (poles, conduit, handholes, etc.) and identify potential conflicts or obstacles.
Capture precise measurements, photographs, and GIS data to support engineering designs.
Interpret construction prints, permitting requirements, and right-of-way regulations.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly with engineering, permitting, and construction teams.
Coordinate with local municipalities, utility companies, and property owners as needed.
Ensure safety and compliance standards are upheld during all site visits
