Qualifications
HS Diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, Ability to pass pre-employment background checks, drug tests, motor vehicle checks, and DOT physical exams. No prior experience is necessary; 0-3 years of experience in related fields is beneficial. Preferred Certifications - OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Basic First Aid/CPR. Other Certifications - Relevant industry and manufacturer-specific training or certifications in fiber optic technology is beneficial.

Job Description
Reporting to the Field Supervisor or Fiber Technician Lead, the OSP Fiber Construction Crew Member supports the installation of fiber optic networks in diverse construction environments, including both aerial and underground settings. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience, training, and exposure to industry standards and best practices, laying a solid foundation for career advancement in telecommunications infrastructure roles.
• Aerial Installation Support:
Assist in setting anchors, pole framing, strand placement, and lashing cable.
Support the setup, operation, and teardown of bucket trucks and aerial equipment.
Implement traffic control setups to ensure job site safety and compliance.
• Underground Installation Support:
Assist in trenching, conduit laying, pulling, and placing fiber cables.
Support installation of underground vaults, handholes, pedestals, and site restoration.
Assist, under supervision, with the setup and operation of trenchers, boring machines, excavators, and hydro-vacs.
• General Duties:
Preparation and cleanup of job sites, including material handling and tool maintenance.
Physical labor, including lifting heavy materials (up to 90 lbs.), digging, trenching, and safely working in confined or elevated spaces
under direct supervision.
Strictly adhere to OSHA standards, safety guidelines and protocols, and company policies.
Maintain accurate documentation of tasks and communicate daily progress effectively.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in varied weather conditions, lift and handle equipment up to 90 lbs., and work in confined or elevated spaces as needed.
