Job Description
GridSource Inc., LLC, is seeking GPON Fiber Technicians in the Sarasota, FL area.
Job Description:
Installation of aerial and underground fiber optic cables from servicing terminals to demarcation at the customer's premises. Clean and connect fiber cable at the FSAI, MST, and ONT. Technicians must be truck and tooled. Seeking fully qualified techs that have experience with aerial and/or underground cable installation and have worked at heights of 18+ feet on an extension ladder. Strong customer communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers is required.
Work Environment:
• May climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
• May perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 75 pounds
• May perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e.g., extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
• When working aloft, employee's weight and tools combined may not exceed the 300-pound weight limit as specified by the manufacturer
Responsibilities:
• Observe all safety rules and regulations.
• Assist other technical personnel in the performance of their duties when requested.
• Must convey a positive and professional appearance and demeanor when communicating the company's products and services to our customers.
• Direct customer facing work
• Accountability/dependability (on time and on load when scheduled and serve on call as needed).
• Teamwork (technical expertise developed to complete work efficiently to achieve work group key service measures).
• Active Listening (ability to take input from customers, APS and co-workers to problem solve and improve skills.
• Asking relevant questions to ensure problems are resolved quickly or to clarify information or directions.)
• Active Learning (curious seeker of new information and actively works to improve skills and knowledge)
• Assume all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Technician must have their own truck, van, or SUV with a ladder rack
• 28’ fiberglass ladder with hooks needed for aerial work
• Technician must have their own tools to perform the job. Android smart phone is also a requirement. Laptop may be required.
• The technician will provide some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the position. Lace up boots with a defined 1/2-inch heel and Safety Cones. Other PPE provided by local Management.
• Must be available to work flexible hours. Weekend work may be required.
• Must pass background check and drug test
