Job Description
Duties:
Splice fiber optic cables in both aerial and underground telecom infrastructure.
Independently build, prep, splice, tag and test new cables to meet client requirements.
Locate and repair cable faults to maintain existing cable network without causing signal failure interruptions.
Validate and test end-to-end service provisioning for the cable network.
Utilize proper techniques to splice fiber optic cable.
Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) optical fiber cables
Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.
Strong communication skills required
Confirm accurate cable terminations on cross connect, patch panels, hubs and routers.
Understand construction prints and splice schematics.
Maintain project information such as production sheets, time sheets, and customer required paperwork.
Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures and policies.
All other duties assigned by company
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in fiber splicing required
Familiarity with hand tools used in fiber optic installation and maintenance
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in the use of all test and splicing equipment and must know how to use computer and all software used by the company concerning the completion of fiber optic projects.
You are at least 18 years old & authorized to work in the United States
You can pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT Physical and criminal background check.
You have a valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed.
