Job Purpose: The Fiber Splicer is responsible for preparing fiber sheaths, splicing and testing individual fibers, and properly dressing and securing fibers within fiber optic enclosures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate a bucket truck and other equipment related to aerial fiber construction.
Proficiently prepare and splice fiber sheaths of all sizes in aerial and underground environments.
Properly use fusion splicers, OTDRs, optical power meters, and other tools required for fiber preparation and splicing.
Read and interpret fiber matrices.
Update and maintain fiber matrices.
Perform mid-sheath fiber entries.
Understand and adhere to OSHA safety requirements to ensure safe and efficient job completion.
Communicate frequently via phone throughout the workday.
Follow specific directions given by the crew leader.
Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
1 to 2 years of technical training and/or experience.
Previous experience in a cable construction environment is preferred.
Must meet the physical requirements of the position.
Willingness to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Valid driver's license.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Able to pass drug, background, DOT, and MVR screenings.
Working Conditions:

The employee will primarily work in the field, often outdoors in various weather conditions.
Exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels may occur.
Overnight travel for up to two weeks may be required.
