Job Description
Job Purpose/ Summary:
Responsible for all technical aspects of deploying managed wired and wireless networks at customer locations. Provides day to day support to Project Management on customer kickoff calls, creates baseline configurations to be applied to new hardware, and works with field resources to deploy and turn up networking services. Performs post-installation Quality Assurance (QA) and heatmap reviews to ensure successful project completion.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities:
• Work within the Single Digits Operations Project Team to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
• Configure, implement, and document network equipment according to Single Digits Network standards.
• Work with other engineers and other service team members to improve the network design, configuration, and implementation processes.
• Manage and update the HSIA related installation documentation, providing the as-built necessary to effectively support the customers HSIA equipment, pre and post installation.
• Lead onsite Single Digits’ field technicians and/or subcontractors, as required, to ensure installations are completed on schedule and according to the Single Digits’ standards and SOW to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Create device configurations according to industry best practices and Single Digits’ standards to be deployed by the remote provisioning team or by the onsite technician at time of installation.
• Test and QA implemented networks to ensure optimal functionality.
• Review wireless survey data to ensure coverage and quality, and to guide WiFi tuning to meet customer needs.
• Stay current on new technologies and changes in the industry.
• Be responsive to internal changes in standards, solutions, and deployment processes.
• Assist in the ongoing development of tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in deployments.
• Audit inbound design specifications, identifying technical risks and making recommendations to mitigate or resolve any issues.
• All other assigned duties and responsibilities not otherwise listed above.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree with major course work in computer science, networking, or related major or equivalent combination of formal education, certifications, and work experience.
Experience:
• Minimum 4 years of related experience to include:
o Experience with configuring, deploying, or supporting wired and wireless networking products from Cisco/Meraki, Ruckus, Aruba or similar;
o Expert network administration and support skills. Fluent understanding of large network implementations, network protocols, and network topologies;
o Familiarity with complex, structured cabling jobs that include interior/exterior installations, terminating, and testing Cat5e/Cat6 and Fiber Optic cabling; and
o Experience with configuring and installing routers, firewalls, servers, Layer2/3 ethernet switches, and wireless access points in environments of varying complexity.
Licenses, Certifications, and Screenings:
• Upon hire, must pass background screen to include employment history, college education, and license/certification verifications, and criminal check.
• CCNA, CWNA, ECSE-Design, ECMS1, or other industry relevant certifications.
Knowledge:
• Experience with computers and software programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Ekahau, and other industry recognized applications.
• Experience with WIFI Survey and Predictive Analysis software and tools such as Air Magnet and/or Ekahau Pro.
• Proven experience with troubleshooting complex problems in various network manufacturer equipment types.
• Basic IP Telephony and Network Monitoring Tools knowledge is a plus.
Personal Attributes:
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written) with internal and external customers.
• Great prioritization skills and the ability to multi-task, while working under tight time constraints.
Work Environment:
• Occasional travel if requested locally and to customer sites which may require overnight stays.
• Work off-hours shift from normal business hours as needed to support implementations.
• Employees must be able to lift, push, carry, and move up to 75 pounds.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing, but occasionally requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Frequent use of computer/keyboard/mouse required.
• Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Employees must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
