Qualifications
Ability to prep and splice fiber via mechanical fusion methods; Ability to splice large count fibers via tube or ribbon method; Ability to access the fiber optic splicer enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from a ladder; Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier and Fiber Scope; Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to 288 count as well as perform ring cut when needed.
Other Requirements
Perform testing and turn-ups of subscriber drops in both inside and outside plant environment; Perform power meter testing; All other duties as required.
Job Description
The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the maintenance and installation of FTTP, FTTDP, FTTN/FTTLA projects, night maintenance, new build and emergencies. Willing to travel and be on call, self-motivated, team player and hard working. Salary is based on experience and qualifications.
