Job Description
Driller (Lead):
Operate and maintain drilling equipment to create underground pathways for fiber optic cables.
Conduct pre-drilling site inspections at various locations to assess conditions and plan drilling routes.
Collaborate with the Locator and Laborer to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment.
Maintain accurate records of drilling activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues as they arise.
Participate in crew meetings and communicate effectively with team members.
Locator:
Operate electronic locating equipment to accurately identify and mark existing utilities.
Collaborate with the Driller and Laborer to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
Assist in the maintenance and calibration of locating equipment.
Maintain accurate records of locating activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues as they arise.
Participate in crew meetings and communicate effectively with team members.
Laborer:
Assist the Driller and Locator in various tasks related to the HDD installation process.
Help with equipment setup and breakdown.
Dig trenches and assist with cable placement.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Participate in crew meetings and communicate effectively with team members.
Qualifications:
Must pass a drug test and background check.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) and utility locating is preferred for the Driller and Locator positions.
Knowledge of drilling and locating equipment and techniques.
Strong mechanical aptitude for the Driller and Locator positions.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Willingness and flexibility to travel out of state for extended periods.
Safety-conscious and detail-oriented.
