Job Description

We have a requirement for Fiber Splicers for our project in Campbellsville, KY, and both in Cushing and Fabens, TX.

This project is expected to go on through the end of the year.

The work schedule is 6 days a week.


Job Description:
1. Terminal Point (Accessible / Inaccessible):
This unit includes all labor, equipment, tools, and incidental materials required to fusion splice, place terminal, and test fiber cable. All work shall be done based on work prints provided by the Customer. The contractor shall test for light before splicing, which includes the following:

• Preparation of cable for splicing (ring cut), including bonding and grounding for non-dielectric cable.

• Fusion splice fiber (single burn typically; if splicing flex ribbon in the buried plant, may require 1 or 2 mass fusion splices also).

• Placing universal splitter bulkhead module (USBM) and pigtail.

• If aerial terminal or buried in handhole, closure shall be sealed per manufacturer specifications and mounted in place per the design.

• If the terminal is in a pedestal, include placing a splice tray and, if applicable, placing the supplied mounting bracket in the pedestal.

• Testing of fiber and recording optical power levels on work prints.


2. Branch / Reel End Splice Point:

Used where 2 or more open ends of fiber require splicing and closure, this unit includes all labor, equipment, tools, and incidental materials required to mass fusion splice, place closure, and test fiber cable. All work shall be done based on work prints provided by the Customer. The contractor shall test for light before splicing, which includes:

• Preparation of cable ends for splicing, including bonding and grounding for non-dielectric cable.

• Mass fusion splicing fiber (ribbonizing loose tube where applicable).

• Placing universal splitter bulkhead module (USBM) and pigtail when necessary (if also a terminal location).

• Placing closure, sealed per manufacturer specifications.

• Testing of fiber and recording optical power level at endpoints as appropriate (test results at terminal or FDH down the line to the field will suffice).

2. Pedestals:

- Primary – Charles Industries 8” (installed prior to Contractor performing Work)

- Secondary – Channel 9” round; Charles Industries 10” and 12” (installed prior to Contractor performing Work)

- Charles Splice Trays (to be installed by Contractor)

3. FDH’s:

- Clearfield ribbon fiber blue cassettes (to be installed by Contractor)
