Job Description
We are seeking skilled and experienced subcontractors specializing in directional drill work for fiber-to-home projects. As a subcontractor, you will be responsible for the installation of underground telecommunication infrastructure, specifically focused on fiber to the home projects.
Responsibilities:
Directional Drilling: Perform directional drilling operations using specialized equipment to create underground pathways for fiber optic cables. Ensure accurate alignment and depths as per project specifications.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment, including drills, mud mixing systems, and support machinery. Conduct routine inspections and address any equipment issues promptly.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures while performing drilling operations. Promote a culture of safety among the crew members, emphasizing the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of the project. Communicate effectively regarding work progress, challenges, and any changes in project requirements.
Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control during drilling operations. Monitor the condition of drilled paths, ensuring they meet the required specifications and regulations.
Documentation: Complete accurate and detailed documentation related to drilling activities, including daily reports, as-built drawings, and material usage. Keep records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues that arise during drilling operations, such as encountering underground utilities or unforeseen obstacles. Collaborate with the team to develop effective solutions and minimize project delays.
Requirements:
Experience: Demonstrated experience in directional drilling for fiber optic installations is essential. Prior work on fiber-to-home projects will be highly regarded.
Equipment Knowledge: Proficiency in operating directional drilling equipment, such as Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar models. Familiarity with different drilling techniques and ground conditions is advantageous.
Technical Skills: Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, and maps. Knowledge of utility markings and the ability to locate and avoid existing underground utilities is crucial.
Safety Consciousness: Strong commitment to safety protocols and ensuring the well-being of the crew members and the public. Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulations is necessary.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively coordinate with project stakeholders and team members. Ability to document work progress and report any issues accurately.
