Job Description
We are seeking to hire Field Technicians, who will attend meetings or conduct site surveys with property owners, perform walkouts for businesses, apartment complexes, and entire subdivisions to create field notes, utilizing GPS, and completing plan design for new buried and aerial communications facilities, following specifications provided by customer.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to acquire field data to be used for the design of fiber distribution construction plans.
• Collecting field data utilizing GPS Units and other collection tools.
• Documentation of field data and taking measurements of existing utilities.
• Complete load calculation worksheets and pole/anchor/transfer activities.
• Ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
• Utilize software programs to analyze and compile collected field data.
Skills:
• Experience in the Utility Industry, specifically: Telecommunications, CATV or Power Distribution.
• Utility Technician, Survey or Civil Engineering Associate degree is preferred but not required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the fielding process with hands on experience in utilizing GPS and data collections.
• Permitting experience in telecommunications such as: right of way (ROW), pole, railroad, and government agency permitting is preferred.
• Able to read and interpret maps, drawings, and diagrams associated with projects.
• Good computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, IKE & PDF Editor with the ability to learn new software and technologies is preferred.
• Must be highly responsible and self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, observational and communications skills a must.
• While experience with one or more of the skill sets is preferred
Additional Information:
• Perform field walkout assignments daily over varying terrain and in all weather conditions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Overnight travel may be required for completion of job duties.
