Job Description
Seeking EXPERIENCED fiber splicer with at least 2-3 years experience. $1000 sign on bonus for those who qualify.
Splice and activate fiber cable systems, including fiber optic "Nodes" and other equipment for transmitting data or television programming. (Salary DOE)
Tasks:
Splice cable systems using hand tools or mechanical equipment.
Inspect, activate and test lines and cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults and malfunctions both forward and return frequencies.
Access specific areas to string lines and install taps, splitters amplifiers, auxiliary equipment, and appliances, using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles and ladders or entering tunnels, trenches, or crawl spaces.
Set up service for customers, installing, connecting, testing, and adjusting equipment
Place insulation over conductors, and seal splices with moisture-proof covering.
Knowledge of safe operation of a bucket van.
Pole climbing experience preferable.
Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
Clean and maintain tools and test equipment.
Maintain records such as vehicle logs, in accordance with regulations.
