Job Description

Greenlight Networks is actively recruiting for a Crew Leader to join our growing in-house construction team at our Binghamton, NY location. This position will work hand in hand with our Linemen and Splicer crew, serving as the point person for the team to manage escalated issues, answer questions, facilitate on-the-job training and manage work assignments. This role is critical to the buildout of our network by “Connecting our Communities by delivering the Best Internet Experience and providing our Customers the Freedom to Work, Play and Live without Limits”.

This position is a Full-Time, Direct Hire role based in Binghamton, NY.

Specific Job Functions Include:

- Reading and maintaining construction prints, schematics, and diagrams and advising team members when needed
- Taking and maintaining accurate field notes, acting as a resource for team to support accuracy and safety as a group
- Managing team to meet project timelines in a team environment
- Maintaining materials and equipment to complete assigned work orders and ensuring team has done the same, adjusting as needed
- Install and Repair fiber optic cable, providing training and acting as a resource for questions
- Monitor productivity of team and adjustment work schedule to accommodate business needs and changes
- Provide on-site support as needed to facilitate the placement, relocation, splicing, and removal of fiber (including splice cases, vaults, and OFDCs) in both aerial and underground scenarios
- Review project plans, specifications, and installation instructions to ensure project is built according to design specifications
- Properly document work and follow company processes accordingly
- Collaborate with Construction Coordinator to establish weekly and monthly construction schedule
- Provide coaching to team members with regards to construction procedures, company policies, and safety procedures
- Other tasks as needed to support the Construction teams in the implementation of their build plans and service delivery to customers

- High degree of patience and strong communication skills
- Perform work in accordance with fiber construction industry standards. Be familiar with company standards, read and follow design engineers’ instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to all safety procedures
- Reconcile all issued parts and materials daily to ensure accurate material usage counts
- Ability to properly use all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks-including Drills, Cable Cutters, Hammer Drill, Splicer, Cleaver, Lasher
- A high standard of work ethics with an ability to perform all work in a neat and quality manner
- Willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and evenings
- Ability to read a fiber construction print and follow color coordinated routings
- Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed
- Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle

Education and Experience

- Previous experience leading a construction / telecom / outside operations team
- Previous experience in a lineman role and/or similar type position
- OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Training
- CDL Class B with Air Brake Endorsement (strongly preferred)
- Valid NYS Driver License is required, pre-employment drug test, and pre-employment background check
- High school diploma or GED preferred; college or technical/vocational school a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

- Work aloft (in a bucket or ladder) and in close spaces up to 50ft ladder, or hand climb utility poles using gaffs; work in manholes
- Ability to work outdoors, in adverse conditions including all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs., frequent standing position, along with reaching out with arms. Occasional climb/balance/stoop/kneel crouch/crawl is required with communication
- Ability to adhere to safety guidelines and requirements including wearing all forms of PPE
