Lightspeed Utility is seeking highly motivated and experienced Drop-Bury Technicians to install and maintain fiber optic cables. This position requires the use of various pieces of heavy equipment including trenching and boring machines/tools depending on the size and scope of the project. Please do not apply if you do not have experience in trenching/boring work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Bury service lines minimum 6" to 24" depth with hand trenching when required and with drop plows and boring capabilities
Read and understand the existing underground facility locates
Identify and locate unmarked utilities
Restore the job site to its original condition
Responsible for damages
Review all requested and existing services with the customer before the installation of new lines
Stick bore knowledge and understanding
Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Pass MVR, background, and drug screen
Must be able to obtain a DOT card
1-year minimum boring/trenching experience (REQUIRED)
Good verbal and written communications skills
Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.
Ability to work in a team environment
Experience/ability to operate boring/trenching machines/equipment
Ability to listen to and implement directions
Ability to work in austere environments (cold, hot, early, late, extended hours)
Ability to work manually with one’s body all day (digging trenches by hand or machine)
Ability to travel and work within the US if needed as the business demands
