Job Description
The HDD Locator/Ground Crew (Not Oilfield Related) will work closely with other members of the Underground Crew/Department/Driller to support the company and its objectives, mission and values.
Education and Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Lift and maneuver up to 70 pounds over their head on a daily basis.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Valid Driver License and be insurable under the Company’s Automobile Insurance.
- CDL preferred but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- A HDD locator/ground crew is responsible for the pre-trip inspection of their truck and trailer that the crew will be using that day. This includes checking the fluid levels and keeping the equipment clean, neat, and organized.
- Read and interpret documents in the form of work orders, maps, utility prints, and any other related documents.
- A HDD locator/ground crew is required to complete the following tasks:
o Arrive at job site and determine a bore path and set up for the HDD.
o Identify utilities in the bore path when marked and also identify any possible utilities that are not marked.
o Assist laborers in digging trenches, pits, and potholing manually or using mechanical equipment when necessary.
o Skilled in use of utility locating equipment and HDD tracking equipment.
o Uses locating equipment to track the drill head and guide it to its destination.
o Understands and has the ability to assemble back reaming and pull back equipment.
o Assist with restoration and clean up of the job site.
o Maintain and properly use all associated tooling.
o Following instructions for other tasks provided by the site foreman or underground supervisor.
- Employee must consider safety to themselves and crew members the top priority.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Horizontal drilling/locator: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
Driver's License with a clean driving record (Required)
