Job Description
We are seeking a Fiber Splicer to become an integral part of our team
Responsible for the maintenance and installation of new and existing fiber in an inside and outside plant environment.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Responsible for the terminating, splicing, bonding/grounding, documenting, and testing of all fiber optic cables.
Aerial & underground splicing and cable installation.
Ability to properly terminate fiber cable.
Knowledge on fiber-optic networks and terms such as GPON, FTTH, FTTB, etc.
Ability to properly create and install cables. Neatly label all enclosures.
Ability to perform all component and system testing.
Employee will perform skilled troubleshooting and perform other duties as assigned.
Access the fiber optic splicer enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from ladder or bucket truck.
Prep, tray and splice fiber optic cable
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans, document daily records and reports, and hours worked
Demonstrated ability to use and care for fiber optic test equipment, ruby light, power meter, and OTDR and document test results accurately
Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (e. g. , quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands.
Ability to climb and work at elevations (e. g. , from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
WORKING CONDITIONS:
10-12 hour days. Some overtime will be mandatory.
· May be required to work long and unpredictable hours including nights and weekends
· Working outdoors in all types of weather
