Job Description
OKTEX Utility Inc. is currently seeking directional bore operator/locator, general laborers and additional members to join our underground/aerial communications crew. This would be a great opportunity for anyone looking to start with a company to apply their expertise, and add to their scope of skills.
The bore operator/locator will be using the in-house directional drill, create a directional drill plan; and execute plan.
CDL- is a plus.
Responsibilities-
As a Directional Drill Operator, daily work will involve traveling to different jobsite locations, survey, plan and execute directional bores to place client facilities.
Competent in operating Vermeer and Ditch Witch horizontal directional drills.
Competent in operating locating systems.
Perform simple math for accuracy of drilling and locating.
Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
Analyze job locations for utility lines, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents or any type of property damage.
Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipment.
Complete bore logs, timesheets, and daily completion forms accurately and legibly, including required photos.
Operate all vehicles, equipment and tools while adhering to company safety standards.
Works efficiently to achieve a high level of productivity daily.
Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
Typical day could include an 8-10-hour shift Monday-Friday.
On-call rotation is required.
The underground crew will be installing fiber optic cable, and conducting general labor to completion of the job which might include, handling damage claims related to irrigation systems, landscaping repairs, and other restoration required due to work performed.
The aerial crew will conduct strand/lash operations, including pulling fiber and utility pole setting/removal.
Responsibilities-
Operate various construction equipment
Perform service, safety checks, check oil and fluids, and minor repairs on equipment
Work with maintenance crew or laborer crew when not operating equipment
Comply with proper safety standards and expectations
Visually assess digging areas to ensure it has been properly staked/located prior to digging
Safe operation of directional drills, trenching, or excavating equipment when needed
Perform laborer requirements and responsibilities as needed
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
Job will require knowledge of reading prints, digging to spot existing utilities, digging launch and recovery pits,
proofing pipe, pulling mule tape, pulling cable and setting pedestals, handholes, and PFP’s. Use of hand tools such
as Sledgehammers, Trenching Shovels, Concrete Saws, mini excavators, trenchers and Pickaxes in performance of
job duties. Uses pneumatic Missile system to bore underground such as road ways, driveways, sidewalks, paved
parking paths, etc. as required. Performs other duties such as clean-up and salvage of wrecked out materials;
provides general assistance to other employees as directed.'
