Job Description
Job Summary
The Directional Drill Operator - safely operates the directional drill to place product underground then locate the drill head to understand elevation changes and make decisions on depths to drill at to avoid hitting underground utilities. Primary responsibilities include navigating, maneuvering, and driving heavy equipment for underground utility construction.
The Locator – performs work involving visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpreting utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities while using special electronic equipment to detect and locate utilities. The utilities may include gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sanitary sewer, water lines, street lighting, and other facilities within the predefined construction area.
The Laborer – assists the OSP Underground Construction Services crew by working on underground fiber optic and coax construction projects. Primary responsibilities include gathering tools needed for the job, packing up and cleaning tools, materials, and equipment at the end of the day, and hand digging trenches and holes as directed by the crew to assist the underground utility construction project.
