GroundHand: starting rate is $18 per hour

Qualifications

1-2 years of experience (Preferred) Aerial Construction, Splicing, and Testing Valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to follow instructions and have good communication skills. Must be able to stoop kneel, crouch, dig and reach. Must be able to climb ladders, must be able to travel with the Bridgeport area. Must perform all duties with a high regard for safety. Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs regularly and up to 100lbs as needed with or without assistance

Job Description

The primary role of a Ground Hand is to provide support tasks for Lineworker.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work as a part of an overhead telecom line crew
Load, unload, layout, and prep tools/supplies/equipment/materials needed at each job site
Assist as required in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Lineworker, Supervisor, or Foreman.
Follow Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) and company safety requirements
Excavating to set poles and anchors
Stringing new wire or maintaining old wires
Tree trimming
Handle physically demanding construction duties.
Taking apart or constructing scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures for the construction site
Digging trenches and backfill holes to prepare for the construction site
Following instructions from construction project managers and supervisors
Loading and unloading materials
Cleaning the construction site by removing hazardous materials and debris from the worksite
Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Safety Regulations:

It is up to a Ground Hand to be familiar with and work within safety guidelines established by the company and federal regulations, such as those outlined by Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA). They should have full knowledge of safety equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure that they and those working around them are always safe.
Required Skills/Abilities:

High school diploma, G.E.D., or suitable equivalent.
Valid driver's license.
First Aid and C.P.R. certification
