Job Description

This position provides organizational leadership, planning, operational direction, and business development for Thayer Power and Communication areas. The Splicing Manager will oversee the daily operations, assign work priorities, set project schedules, develop job plans, define parts and materials, and engage the appropriately trained resources to execute a safe and efficient project with maximum productivity and a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
The purpose of the Splicing Manager is to oversee the daily operations of the business and perform in a leadership role. This includes setting project schedules, allocating and planning for work to be performed, and providing the proper material and equipment necessary to meet the budgeted cost, and exceed the gross margin and quality standards.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Represent Thayer Power and Communication in a professional manner to develop and strengthen customer relationships.

Establish clear and concise productivity goals and quality expectations for the Team by providing on-going training and updates.

Maintain active communication with Splicing Supervisor and Field Forman.
Prepare weekly tracking of splicing and testing

Prepare and review Pre-Construction project documents with the crew prior to the project start date.

Ensure that each project is installed and completed on time and within the expected budget.
Provide weekly progress and budget updates on all active projects, including change orders.

Prepare and submit monthly progress invoices for each project.

Perform Job Site inspections to ensure that all work meets both Thayer and the customer's expectations and Safety standards.

Maintain an accurate inventory of company tools and equipment, and ensure that it is in good working order, including calibrations if necessary.

Ensure that all necessary material, equipment and tools are delivered to the job site on schedule.

Ensure that all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted timely, including closeout documentation.

Provide timely annual reviews by the anniversary date.

Assist with project pricing and proposals as may be required.

Participate pre-proposal reviews as requested


Required Skills/Abilities:
Required to hold and maintain an OSHA 30 Certification.
Ability to communicate and work with customers to develop and maintain long-term relationships.
Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and provide a clean MVR. Class A CDL preferred.
Demonstrated organization, planning, and scheduling skills in a field project environment.
Knowledge of standard industry practices, work orders, and scheduling processes.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to assess technical problems, estimate work hours, and identify required materials.
Should have good written and verbal communication skills, must be approachable and tactful.
Personal computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and project planning software.
Education and Experience:
10+ years of splicing experience
Previous managerial experience preferred
Knowledge of line construction
Self-motivated, good communicator
Can collaborate with other departments
Willing to travel 40% of time
Available for call outs
Establish relationships with clients
Garners respect of team and others working in the company


Knowledge of:
Ribbon fuser
Single fuser
Expo OTDR
i0LM
OLTS
PMD/CD testing concepts
Troubleshooting
Experience with cases
Knowledge of Fast Reporter (Verizon test results) a plus
Good communication skills

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams and other video conferencing formats
Ability to adapt to different situations

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
May require travel.
Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.
Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
