• 2-5 Years Technical experience splicing and troubleshooting fiber

Job Description

Core Responsibilities
• Possess experience with OSP/ISP cable installation, design and all industry tools associated with career field
• Review and analyze complex schematic drawings to determine work to be done, methods and sequence of tasks
• Install, test, and troubleshoot fiber cables
• Must be proficient with fusion splicing, OTDR, loss meters and other tools associated with cable maintenance
• Receive verbal and/or written work orders and instructions from supervisor
• Required to follow standards and practices while meeting service deadlines
• Perform housekeeping duties for assigned Company vehicles and various work locations for the safety of the employee and protection of the facilities under construction
• Perform preventative maintenance on all assigned company tools, equipment and motor vehicle
• Respond to customer inquiries about products, work operations, etc. during field contacts
• Must meet specific quality, production and safety standards
• Work with tools, equipment and cable that may be heavy which have to be loaded and unloaded from Company vehicle, moved or rearranged
• Will be expected to be the Company’s and customer’s advocate
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends if necessary 24 x 7 x 365 on call for cable cuts etc.
• Develops and implements appropriate methods, practices, policies and procedures; informs employees of changed processes.
• Maintain open communications with other departments.
• Perform field walkouts as required.
• Practices Company safety policies and procedures and ensures they are followed.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills/Abilities:
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel, Smartsheet
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings
• Ability to read, edit and understand fiber optic designs and/or schematics
• Basic knowledge of the physical construction and design of aerial and underground of cable plant including coax & fiber
• Basic knowledge of various fiber cable builds (FTTU, MDU/SDU, Nodes, Metro-E, etc)
• Knowledge of the operation of a signal level meter, OTDR and optical light meters.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
