Thanks London, my wife of 19 years.I wouldn't be here without you.Sometimes I guess we all take the love of our mate for granted, not realizing how they feel. It meant alot to me to read the words she wrote here yesterday. For women to choose to be married to a cable dog or be a part of this industry I salute you.Its not easy to live a life on the road.Sometimes its lonely as heck. The life of a contractor is much different than inhouse as we travel here and there like gypsies. One of the greatest feelings I know is traveling half way around the states and pulling up on a new project and there is an old friend that you lost touch with ten years ago.On the other side of the coin its always disheartning when a project is over and your headed back down that highway to another new beginning its like a part of you is lost. Cable you just gotta love it.I have been in this industry for many years now.I don't know many people that work cable for years that if they leave this industry that at sometime they don't return to it.It gets in your blood as the old dogs say. Times are hard in this industry right now for alot of people, but if you have been in cable for years and years you know we have seen it hit slumps before,it will recover it always has. Its like the industry is purging itself. Those in it that don't belong are being weeded out.We all learn from mistakes.I can't help but think to myself that all the losses this industry has taken will make those left in it wiser and stronger. It has caused companies to rid theirselves of dead wood and those that thought life was just a free ride.If you have cable in your blood you will survive. One thing about cable dogs they learn to adapt, overcome and continue on against the odds. When I sat down to write my wife a thank you, I didn't plan on writing what I have today, but in writing it I realized something, when I started cable I was a much different than I am now,and would like to thank the industry and the people in it for being brothers and sisters to me throught my life because without you there would be no me.I am proud to be a Cable Dog. Thanks to all, I hope you enjoy this holiday and to Martin Luther who gave his life to trying to change the world with one mans dream!
