YES, the first place where you need to align a return signal is from the NODE to the HEADEND. What ever reference in level you use at the NODE should be the same reference you used at all RF amp. Here is a picture showing the way I do it. I use +15 dBmV as a reference but with a 20 dB test point on GI equipment I make this reference +35 dBmV.
