Don't know how many of you are working right now but pickens seem a bit slim these days... I am thinking that those of us that are posting all over the web (You know who you are because I have seen you not just here but many other sites. I have been there too.) and hitting up every possible contact and lead we hear off in the distance are getting no place in onsies and twosies. Regardless, we all know the name of this game is who you know and not what you know.
I am an extremely honest individual (sometimes too honest in this biz it seems) and think that we may have a bit of a better chance if we try and network a little bit. Give a client a bit more than you and your cousin and the guy you worked with last year. Put together a joint list and do some real marketing. Let the client go from there and once we are in, try and help each other out some. In my book, one good turn deserves another and I know we aren't all that way but I always lean to the good side of a person till I learn otherwise.
If we are all as good as we say, then why not form an unofficial company of mappers? Call it, "The-A- List" and market it. Let the client choose and if YOU get the contract, and they need more help, you know where to go. (To your brother, cousin and the guy you worked with last year).
