Re: AC Through RG-6 ?

SHANE,
TO HELP YOU IN YOUR DECISION TO TEMP WITH RG-6. HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT FACTORS TO CONSIDER.
RG-6 (DUE TO IT'S CENTER CONDUCTOR)HAS A CURRENT RATING OF 18 AWG.DEPENDANT UPON THE LENGTH
OF THE TEMP AND THE AMBIENT TEMP.UNDER IDEAL CONDITIONS HAS A CURRENT RATING OF 4.5 AMPS OF DRAW THEN IT WILL BURN UP.
IF I WERE YOU I WOULD USE AN AMP METER TO DETERMINE THE DRAW DOWNSTREAM OF THE TEMP. IF IT IS LESS THAN 4 AMPS IT IS PROBABLY O.K.
TO USE IT. IF IT IS MORE THAN 4 AMPS USE RG-11 IT HAS A RATING OF ALMOST 10 AMPS AND WILL PROBABLY BE O.K. FOR ANYTHING ON THAT LEG
OF THE POWER INSERTER...........HOPE THIS HELPS... IF YOU NEED A MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION E-MAIL ME AT (-REDACTED-) .

NICK THOMAS,
DYNA-TEK
