The Egyptian Firstborn: As the final of the ten plagues, God strikes down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from people to livestock, to force Pharaoh to free the Israelites (Exodus 12:29-30). Korah's Rebellion: The ground swallows Korah and his followers alive after they challenge Moses' authority (Numbers 16:1-32). Uzzah and the Ark: God strikes Uzzah dead instantly when he reaches out to steady the Ark of the Covenant, as God had commanded no one was to touch it (2 Samuel 6:6-7). The Canaanites and Amalekites: God commands the Israelites to completely destroy entire nations, including men, women, children, and infants, as part of their conquest of the Promised Land and as punishment for their evil practices (Deuteronomy 20:17; 1 Samuel 15:3). Ananias and Sapphira: In the New Testament, a couple dies after lying to the Holy Spirit and the apostles about the proceeds from land they sold (Acts 5:1-11). King Herod Agrippa I: An angel of the Lord strikes Herod down, and he is eaten by worms and dies, because he accepted worship from the people and did not give praise to God (Acts 12:23).
