Re: Cable Industry

Like many people on this site, I started my company with next to nothing.  I quit my job, bought a house, had 3 preschool kids with one on the way.  And then for some crazy reason, I decided to start my own company.  I was the lone employee for the first year doing anything legal to support my family.  Then I started hiring workers to help me but I still did all the paperwork, payroll, account receivable, account payable, return calls off the answering machine (before cell phones), etc.  I worked 15+ hours a day for the first 3 years.  Then gradually worked in a secretary/bookkeeper and more employees. I didn’t get to where I am by complaining.  I simply corrected my errors and moved forward.  I spend a lot of time finding & meeting the right people.  I made sure we always did quality work for them. A great number of them have been to my house and I to theirs.  That is the kind of relationships you need to build.  So don’t get the idea that I was gifted anything or bought these guy a boat because neither happened.

There is no task that any of my employees do that I have not already done.  Including climbing poles, trailer house crawl space installs and preparing all the tax forms.  There is no secret to my bidding process.  In fact I just told you in this and previous posts what you have to do.  I know it is not easy and you may not want to do it but if you want you to get to this level, you have to work very hard to get here and work even harder to stay here.

The old saying "Work smarter not harder" wasn’t good enough for me.  I ‘Worked smarter and harder" to get to where I am now.
