you dont remove burried cable it gets abandoned if it is in conduit you pull it out the same way you pull it in. the smaller the cable the more fits on the reel and the longer the run the tighter it wraps a 1800 pr you will only get around 800' on a 420 reel. we used to use a piece of 10m strand and a false dead end preform wrap the false dead end under over under and twist it to the strand hook it to the reel or the last tail and yank it out .you may need to drive a jhook into the cable so the false dead end bites. or find a mcv truck that pulls the cable out and cuts it in 3' sections and shoots it into the dump truck. make sure you get a t&m adder for pumping out manholes i seen holes it took 1/2 day with a 3" pump to get the water out. and always make sure you have proven ends never cut anything thats not the removal crews job
