Re: Fiber Splicing

Well said. Anyone wanting to get into fiber splicing MUST get one on one training and experience before stepping out in the field under contract. I have seen a lot of messy work and mistakes made by guys not knowing the proper way to prep cable and closures. Physically using a Fusion Splicer is the easiest part of being a fiber splicer. Being a Fiber Technician is a completely different level from being able to fuse glass. There is a difference.... As stated, the expenses to just get started are very high. You need every possible hand tool made, for everyone involved, because you may not know exactly what you are into until its too late. Always be prepared!!!! That is our moto at XCEL Fiber Optics.
