Although I'm still doing some engineering for major fiber companies in the midwest, the irony of my situation is that I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting broadband to my very rural Indiana residence. Despite having Comcast a few miles south of me, Smithville Telephone (yes!) a few miles west, and Endeavor fiber (Clay Co. Tel.) close by to the north, my only prospect of getting fiber cable broadband service is from my REMC! Yes, money is being forked out to lots of rural power companies for their fiber plans. Hope I live long enough to see that reel come down my road!
Then again, I got the virtual fishing channel in my back yard!
