I’ve said for a while now, why would you stop your build at Node + 0? Sure it’s cheaper to build but who ever gets to the house with fiber first wins! Very short term thinking. I’m working with a telco looking at FTTH and they are guesstimating future needs 5, 10, and 20 years out. IMHO, MSOs are looking at this years P/L and certainly not even 5 years out much less longer.
I live in rural S.D., our coop telephone exchange aggressively built FTTH to all subscribers in all their exchanges. There are no copper subscribers in the entire company. On the other hand the MSO is building Node + 0. Go figure.
