OK, it was definitly the null modem cable I was using. I put a gender bender on my cloning cable and connected right away. Strange that the null modem would not work on the QAM meters, but does on the non-QAM versions. You would think that the wiring would be the same on both units even if the ports are in different locations.
In all the years I have been using these meters I have never had the issue, but then I always had my PC to Stealth cable. It must have wandered off recently. I should have known to verify the pin out when it didin't work.

Now, do you know what the patch is that Stealthware 7.1 provided that is not in 7.0?
