Yes,
Fiber to the premesis (FTTP) might bring the good old days again. It will mean tearing up suburbia but it will be good for awhile..........unless some wi-fi solution comes along.
My home county is now putting in dark fiber and the locals can't wait for the FTTP to start.
They think it will be free like CATV & SATs.  Should be fun to watch.
