Keep in mind the next version of the National Electrical Safety Code due out this fall, will require all telecommunications workers to wear a fall arrest device such as a BuckSqueeze or Cynch-Loc, so you might want to look into to one now.
You do have to safety off and unhook the device when you are climbing over obstacles such as another comm cable, power supply, etc.
